Hailey Bieber Debuted the Glazed Donut Manicure 2.0

We all remember where we were when glazed donut nails took over the internet—I guess you could say they were the mani heard around the world. Thanks to the star power of Hailey Bieber, the glazed donut mani instantly became the most sought-after nail look around. In fact, so many people were requesting it that salons put up signs luring customers in to get the “Hailey Bieber mani.” Now, nearly two years later—and after a break from the look—Bieber decided it was time to revive her signature style. But with a subtle twist.

On March 14, the nail artist who created the iconic style, Zola Ganzorigt, shared a heartfelt Instagram post honoring the almost two year anniversary of the look, when Bieber debuted the mani at the 2022 Met Gala. Ganzorigt celebrated with a revamped-version of the look on Bieber for an Oscars after party.

Still a classic “your nails but better” manicure, the 2023 version changed the OG formula slightly to incorporate a touch more pink. Bieber’s nails were the same shape and length we remember from the first time around—medium length and almond shape. Then, on top, each matched with a sheer chrome color similar to what we know and love. Glazed and slightly milky, her nails were almost agiving strawberry glazed donut, but very light on the strawberry. From cuticle to tip, there was a sheer pinky-beige hue—very similar to the pink shade of her recent blush nails—topped with her signature pearly chrome.

If you've been considering giving chrome another go, you're in luck, as Ganzorigt revealed the exact polishes she used to create the glazed mani 2.0.

After prepping Bieber’s nails, Ganzorigt applied a coat of her go-to base coat, OPI’s GelColor Stay Strong Base Coat ($20). To get the new and improved glazed donut nail look, reach for OPI’s Bare My Soul ($20). However, the OG glazed donut uses a coat of OPI’s Funny Bunny ($20) for a more neutral base.

After that, Ganzorigt applied the professional-only Tin Man Can chrome powder before sealing it in with OPI’s Stay Shiny Top Coat ($20). If you want to replicate the look at home, you can use any fine-milled silver eyeshadow instead of the chrome powder, and apply a super-shiny base coat.

While this is a new twist on Bieber’s go-to, it’s not the first time she’s tried a colorful version of the look, including a brown chocolate glazed and pink strawberry glaze.
