Katy Perry’s “Vampire” Nails Are a Surprising Spring Mani

Why isn’t the mani cam a thing at all awards shows? While Vogue once called it “divisive,” I think the tiny red carpet diorama that celebs once used to stick their hands in was genius. A slo-mo glam bot is cool, but I need details. And nail art-specific commentary, ideally.

The latest show that would’ve benefitted from the mani cam treatment was the iHeart Radio Music Awards. On April 1, stars showed up at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles for a night of accolades, glam, and Beyoncé. Miss Katy Perry was one of the superstars who, alongside an excellent set of claws, made their mark at the event.

Crafted by nail artist Britney Boyce, the almond-shaped mani features a true-crimson polish shade and is medium-long in length. It’s the exact look I’d expect a vampire to wear as they wooed you, tickling your arm or whatever a vampire does to capture their prey. Maybe they run their fingers through their long, gorgeous hair? That’s what’s working for Perry, at least.

The name of the shade, a gel formula by Apres Nails, was fitting: Vampire Drunk which lives between Blood Moon and Hearts and Likes in the brand’s red range. According to an Instagram post, Boyce paired the shade with GelX medium sculpted almond tips.

To complete her look, the “I Kissed a Girl” singer wore a black fishnet dress with red ribbon details from Interior’s Fall 2023 collection. Hairdresser Jesus Guerrero styled her dark locks in soft, middle-parted waves while makeup artist Michael Anthony applied a muted matte peach lipstick and kept her powdered throughout the show.

“Yes you do the most,” commented Perry’s lover, Orlando Bloom, on her post from the event, a full-body shot that showed her fully accessorized with black knee-high boots and a pair of futuristic sunglasses.

And that's okay! Now, Katy Perry cover of "Vampire" when?
