Kylie Jenner’s Chrome Nails Are Tiny Little Mirrors

Lately, it feels as though Kylie Jenner has been into experimenting with her looks. She’s shed her go-to “baddie” style and seems to be bouncing between classic pieces and edgy, adventurous looks. Recently, she dipped back into her Tumblr era with pastel pink hair, and tried out red hair and matching chrome nails. Now, she’s experimenting yet again with her latest manicure.

On March 21, Jenner posted a photo to her Instagram to announce that her new canned cocktail company, Sprinter, is now available for purchase. How did she ring in the official launch of her latest venture? A sultry post of her drinking one of the new products while wearing a dark silver chrome nail look.

Though Kylie has always had a bit of an edge with her style, even when it comes to her renditions of chic and classic, we don’t normally see the star in chrome nails. Besides the aforementioned red chrome color, her nails are usually painted with “your nails but better”shades or the occasional pop of glossy red. This look was clearly not either of those.

With a short, square-shaped tip, all of her nails glistened with a dark silver chrome finish. Not vanilla chrome, not glazed donut chrome, and surely not nude chrome, these nails were a reflective silver hue, just a shade or two darker than the silver accents on the new Sprinter cans. From cuticle to tip, the entire nail was glistening with the finish. In fact, they were so shiny that we saw a warped reflection of her in the chrome color.

First, as with any nail look, remove any lingering nail polish with remover. Then, cut and file your nails to the desired length and shape—this would also be the time to apply any tips or press-on if you want. After that, buff the surface for an even nail bed before applying your favorite base coat.

Then, it’s time for color and chrome. Start with a classic silver or gray polish for your base. With that painted and dried, dust on some chrome powder like Mia Secret’s Metallic Flakes ($10). After that, seal it all in with your favorite top coat and you will be matching with the icon.
